The newly sworn-in Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Oleh Branch, Timothy Agbaragu, has pledged to foster synergy with the Judiciary to ensure the swift dispensation of justice within the jurisdiction.

Agbaragu made this commitment today in Oleh, the headquarters of the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, while taking the oath of office alongside other elected Executive Officers (EXCO) to steer the affairs of the branch for the next two years.

Speaking after the oath of office was administered by a Notary Public, Mr Prosper Ezo, Agbaragu—a dispute resolution specialist—asserted that the branch would continue to collaborate with the Judiciary as "ministers in the temple of justice" to uphold the rule of law. He stressed his commitment to defending the rights of both members and the vulnerable in society.

The Chairman implored other contestants in the recently concluded election, as well as members and stakeholders, to join hands with the new EXCO to build a strong Bar that will strengthen the institution of justice. He also reiterated his commitment to the completion of the Bar Centre within the record time.

He stated that his administration would be guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness. Furthermore, he maintained that members would be exposed to regular training and retraining in digital technology through the NBA’s Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) programme to keep pace with digital reforms in the legal profession.

The Chairman expressed his appreciation to the Electoral Committee for conducting a free, fair, and credible election that ushered in the new administration. He thanked the founding members—particularly Honourable Justice Joshua Efemena Ikhede (Rtd.), Mr Prosper Ezo, and Mr Kennedy Uwubiti—as well as other leaders and critical stakeholders, for their sacrifices in sustaining the peace and unity of the branch, which have earned it admiration among the comity of branches in the state.

The outgoing Chairman, Mr Peter Erhinyodavwe, expressed his gratitude to the members of the branch for their support, specifically acknowledging Chief Benedict Owonye for providing his conference hall free of charge for the branch's activities for over eight years.

Called to the Nigerian Bar in 2013, Mr Timothy Agbaragu has served the branch in various capacities, including Publicity Secretary, Secretary, and as a member of several committees.

Other officers who were sworn in include Mrs Okemena Okole (Vice Chairman), Mr Jude Itedjere (Secretary), Mr Daniel Onianwa (Treasurer), and Mr Benjamin Oreighe (Publicity Secretary).
