EFFURUN, DELTA STATE – The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Effurun Branch, is gearing up for a historic milestone as it celebrates its 10th-Year Anniversary Ceremony from Friday, 20 February to Sunday, 22 February 2026.
Under the leadership of the Branch Chairman, Dcn. Onoriode Ewenode, the 'Bar of the People' has curated a robust three-day itinerary designed to blend professional development, community outreach and social networking. The event will be held under the distinguished chairmanship of Hon. Justice T.O. Diai, the Chief Judge of Delta State.
A Star-Studded Gathering of Legal Luminaries
The anniversary is expected to draw the crème de la crème of the Nigerian legal profession. The National President of the NBA, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, will attend as the Guest of Honour. Other prominent guests include:
- Austin Alegeh, SAN (Past National President of the NBA) – Special Guest of Honour
- Paul Usoro, SAN (Past National President of the NBA) – Guest of Honour
- Hon. Dafe Emakpor (Member, Delta State House of Assembly)
- Emmanuel O. Jakpa, Esq. (Legal Consultant, Tantita Securities Services Ltd)
Three-Day Itinerary
Day One (Friday, 20 February)
The anniversary kicks off with a strong focus on corporate social responsibility, including visits to selected schools and orphanages, alongside a Free Legal Clinic and medical check-ups. The afternoon will pivot to recreation with novelty football matches:
- 3:00 pm: Female Lawyers vs Female Magistrates
- 4:00 pm: Senior Male Lawyers vs Junior Male Lawyers
Day Two (Saturday, 21 February)
The second day will centre on intellectual discourse at the Monarchy Event Centre, Effurun. The 10th Anniversary Lecture, titled 'Celebrating a Decade of Dynamic Growth and Development: The Journey So Far; A Look Into the Future', will feature:
- Keynote Speaker: Hon. Justice Olukayode A. Adeniyi, JCA
- Guest Lecturer: Prof. Joseph Abugu, SAN
The day will culminate in a grand Gala Night starting at 5:00 pm.
Day Three (Sunday, 22 February)
The festivities will conclude with a Thanksgiving Service at Winners Chapel, Izakpa Street, Effurun, at 8:00 am.
The Anniversary Planning Committee, chaired by Felix Owumi, Esq., invites all members and stakeholders to join in this decade-long celebration of legal excellence and service to the rule of law.
