NBA EPE BRANCH BREAKS GROUND ON NEW BAR CENTRE | Clementina E. Ukiri, Esq.

Epe, Lagos State – The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Epe Branch, marked a historic day on Thursday, December 11, 2025, with the foundation-laying ceremony for its NBA Epe Branch Bar Centre. The landmark event was led by the Admin Judge of the Epe Judicial Division, the Honourable Justice W. Animahun.

​The ceremony was graced by numerous distinguished guests, underscoring the significance of the project. These included:

  • Hon. Justice W. Animahun, Admin Judge of Epe Judicial Division (who led the foundation-laying);
  • Dr. Saliu Jimoh, Chairman, NBA Epe Branch (Aare Shittu);
  • Hon. A. F. O. Botoku (Mrs), Chief Magistrate Admin, Epe District;
  • Mrs. Olawunmi Adeola, Chairperson of NBA Ikorodu Branch; and
  • HRM Oba Dr. Babatunde Olaogun Ogunlaja (JP), Oba of Odo-Noforija.

​The ceremony, captured in several video clips, demonstrated the tangible start of the project, showing Justice Animahun and other dignitaries placing the first set of concrete blocks for the building. A speaker at the event highlighted the immediate commitment to the structure, stating, "We can get to lay 100 blocks" as part of the initial construction phase.

​The Chairman of the Epe Branch, Dr. Saliu Jimoh, offered immense thanks to all attendees and many other well-wishers, specifically acknowledging:

  • ​The Pioneer and all Past Chairmen (including Kabiyesi A. S. Abimbola, Mr. Ademola Koko, and Chief Omotayo Omosehin);
  • ​Their Executives;
  • ​The Elders of the Branch; and
  • ​The current sterling executives ably led by Dr. S. O. Jimoh.

​Audio recordings from the event revealed the depth of commitment to the project:

  • ​One speaker publicly acknowledged a major supporter, stating that for the purpose of having the building, this individual "gave us one plot of land" despite early opposition.
  • ​Another speaker emphasised that the day’s work was just the beginning, noting, "For what we have done here is just a step... to get this building up is not going to be a small job," and appealing for continued cooperation from the members.
  • ​The branch leadership made sure to recognise the pioneers who had championed the project.

​The completion of the Bar Centre is expected to provide a crucial hub for legal professionals within the Epe Judicial Division.
