NIGERIAN SENATE PASSED THE BILL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE FEDERAL OIL AND GAS HOSPITAL, BENIKRUKRU, WARRI SOUTH-WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, DELTA. STATE.

Dear Esteemed Constituents,

It is with great joy that I inform you that the Bill for the Establishment of the Federal Oil and Gas Hospital, Benikrukru in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, which I sponsored, has on Tuesday, 22nd July 2025, been passed for third reading by the Nigerian Senate.

The hospital, when established, will offer comprehensive and specialised medical services to workers in the oil and gas industry and to residents of host communities who bear the brunt of oil spillages, environmental degradation, and other hazards associated with crude oil exploration. It will improve emergency response, reduce health risks, and minimise downtime losses in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Furthermore, this project will be a major catalyst for economic growth, opening up employment opportunities, encouraging infrastructural development, and bringing federal presence closer to our people, a development that is long overdue for a region that significantly contributes to our nation’s revenue.

I return all glory to Almighty God for making this possible. I also extend my profound appreciation to the President of the Senate, H.E. Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON; the Deputy President of the Senate, H.E. Senator Barau Jibrin, CFR; the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, CON; the Senate Committee on Health (Secondary and Tertiary) chaired by Senator Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Banigo and all my Distinguished colleagues for their support, contributions and belief in the necessity of this bill.

As we now look forward to Presidential Assent by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, after concurrence by the House of Representatives, I am confident that Mr. President will recognise the critical need for this specialised medical institution and lend his final approval to what will be a transformational milestone for our region and country.
