OYEDEPO, IBIYEOMIE, FREEZE: MY OPINION. - By Aruviere Martin Egharhevwa.

Let me quickly say this, I’m a Christian, a baptised and confirmed Catholic. I may not like the flamboyant and deluxe nature of most Pentecostal Pastors and Preachers but I must be objective in x-raying trending issues as it relates to them. To start with, Freeze crossed the line when he called Bishop David Oyedepo, “...’Ole’ depo” and “bald headed fowl”.

Most of you criticising Bishop David Ibiyeomie today did not see anything wrong in Freeze’s venomous attack on Oyedepo. Freeze cannot claim to be a journalist, Pastor, broadcaster, activist, critic et al at the same time. He must watch it! This is Nigeria where just anything can happen to you and nothing will happen. He must look and see beyond those cheering him on as they will not be there when he will be carrying his cross. Because, Nigerians like noise. They enjoy high drama. They crave for raving stories. They seek out delirious headlines. But in the end, they go home, clasp the comfort of their beds, mute as they hit their pillows, dreaming dreams. It is a routine, which has become part of the abiding norms of the society.

Freeze cannot in one hand be reputed for hurling insults at others and on the other hand cannot take same. You must all realise and accept the fact and reality that the same way you “love” Freeze, there are people who also “love” Bishop Oyedepo and by extension can be fanatical about it. Freeze must learn how to choose his battles and targets and also take responsibility for his actions. Organising a pity party for himself on social media will not save him when the chips are down.
